After posting so many holiday post from my Japan trip last year, is time to post some more recent activities. After 24 years in my life, i finally get to visit Batam (Indonesia) which is so near to Singapore. I went with 5 of my friends and they are Isabel, Sebastian, Ching Wen, Candy and Yujie. This was consider our first overseas staycation among us.
Woke up the latest but i was the 2nd earliest among them when we met up in Jurong East MRT Station. Oh Gosh…. We were supposed to meet at 9am but we dragged to 930am. Damn… We reached Harbourfront center and had a quick breakfast at macdonalds while waiting for boarding. Thanks to Candy, we were able to purchased the ferry tickets at a discounted (27% off) price.
I spotted Duty Free Shop and out of curiosity i entered the shop. Despite being DFS, the items were selling at the same price as compared to those selling in the malls . So i wonder, is there even duty free? and Candy bought a pair of sunglasses. oh well, it was time for boarding!!
The ferry seating arrangement is like the one i boarded during my BMT times to Pulau Tekong. At least the platform for boarding was much more stable compared to the one towards Pulau Tekong. Anyway, it was time for Selfie and Wefie!! 😀
Upon arriving at the custom in Batam, Ching Wen told us that we had to remain silent because there are cases where travelers were sent back to Singapore as they were too noisy.
Arriving at Batam, i must try the legendary A&W fast food restaurant there. I not sure why is it legendary but that is what i heard from my friends in Singapore. The taste didn’t fit into the legendary category. I still preferred macdonalds. Surprisingly, i didn’t see any Macdonalds outlet in Batam when i was there. Strange……
Candy brought us a kueh lapis stall infront of the hypermart in Megamall to order our kueh lapis to be collected the next day. She said it is the nicest she had in Batam and i forgot to took a photo of the shop. After which, we took a Taxi to our hotel. Candy tried to bargain for 6 persons taking one cab but she failed. So we had to split into two groups (Ching wen, Candy and Me) & (Yujie, Sebastian and Isabel).
We reached our Hotel “BCC Hotel”. Apparently there was this durian detector so you wont be able to bring durians into the hotel. I took pictures of our apartment!! So Big and Spacious 😀
I took a very short nap since i only slept like 4 hours. We headed to the nearest supermarket and i spot this JKT48 advertisement on pocky and i bought it… haha… We bought lots of tibits and instant noodles for supper later on.
After which, we headed to nagoaya hills food street via the hotel transport at only 60,000 IDR. We decided to try the seafood at Red Crab Restaurant!! Not bad and it was very cheap!! Look at the amount of food we ordered and the final pricing!
After an awesome dinner, we took a tour around the shopping mall and somehow nothing caught our attention. Candy brought us to one of the foot reflexology center. This is my first time experiencing it and it WAS SUPER PAINFUL!!! I was busy talking to divert my attention while the rest was busy watching tv.. zz
After that, we went back to the hotel to put down all our bags and items we bought. We proceed to the night food market near the hotel. So much food to eat and the price was so much cheaper compared to Singapore!!
We came across this Satay stall and we were shocked that they were selling crocodile (Buaya) satay meat!! oh my!! The rest was arguing with me about Buaya means lamb or beef in malay.. I insisted on crocodile and Candy did a search on it.. It was really crocodile.. and look at how much food we had for supper!!
It was my 1st time eating some shell fish which i don’t really fancy and it turn out to be nice 😀
And of course not forgetting our birthday girl. We tried to surprise her when she was bathing but we failed very badly. The plan was supposed to sing her birthday song and offer her the cake the moment she stepped out from the bathroom BUT no people initiated the surprised. It turned out to be a little weird but since she did not get to see the cake as she was totally “BLIND” without specs. Oh Well….
Happy 25th Birthday Ching Wen!!
チング ウェンさん, お誕生日おめでとうございます
Can’t Blame me for snatching the spot light 😀 haha i always do!!
Woke up the next day super late as i was so tired from not catching any sleep the previous day. The rest went ahead for the Hotel Morning buffet while Sebas and i were still sleeping in the room soundly. After we woke up and left the hotel, Ching wen, Yujie and Candy went for massage AGAIN!! while Isabel, Sebas and i walked around to see what’s nice for lunch.
While waiting for them, we went to Sushi Tei near our hotel and had our awesome lunch there. I didn’t took any pictures of the sushi we ordered as i was too lazy…
But there was a sushi designed for birthday girl within a week and we ordered for ching wen.
After lunch, we went to Megamall, put down all our baggage and did grocery shopping in the hypermart. We collected our Kueh Lapis and while waiting to board the ferry back to Singapore, we spammed taking welfie using Candy’s polaroid camera since she wanted to finish using the flim she brought along.
After which, Home sweet home back to Singapore. 1 hour difference really doesn’t make a difference 😀 Bought food and some snacks back home.
And after a week, my family and i had problem finishing up the amount of kueh lapis i bought………
